Some days, summoning the motivation feels like an uphill battle. Even if you love something the way I love running, it’s not always easy to get out the door. On such days, I’ve learned to lean on alternate activities to bridge the gap.
Whether it’s weightlifting (seriously, why do so many runners sleep on this?), cycling, or swimming, each offers its own unique fulfillment. Regardless of what you choose, they all contribute to the end goal in some manner.
Don’t feel bad about not doing your main sport. Today, for instance, I didn’t run but filled the time with weightlifting and still felt the same great accomplishment.
