“The only difference between a master swordsman and a beginner is that the master does not do anything else but be a master. The beginner, however, has not forgotten himself.” – The Way and The Power
If I recall correctly, I first heard about this book from former NBA legend, Chris Bosh, on a Tim Ferriss podcast. The book is about lessons from the life of what it is like to be a Japanese Samurai – then applied to modern-day life. It’s a great book that makes you think about what it takes to become one of the best in your field.
To me, this quote is a reminder that I need to see myself as a master of running – not a beginner. There are times when I do forget or question what the best workout or training plan is. But by reminding myself that as long as I stick to it and believe I know what I am doing, I will get where I am going.
Always believe in yourself and that you know the best path towards your goals.
