A surprising double workout today! I think it’s important to stick to your training plan – but just as important to be flexible.

I ran 5.2 miles at an 8:45 pace, started slow, finished a little faster. Nothing special, but it was a relatively easy effort. Then I got the surprise of running another two miles later in the day with my wife. These miles were at an 11-12 minute pace, but even so, I still felt some lactate build-up in my legs.

This got me thinking of two things. One, I need to cross-train my legs more (biking), and two, I need to run doubles to simulate running on tired legs. I signed up for a 12-hour endurance run in September, so this would be invaluable to add to my training plan.
